Captain Stannard
Sister Property The Captain Stannard House
WELCOME THE STANNARD TO THE WESTBROOK INN FAMILY
Just a few steps away from the Westbrook Inn Bed & Breakfast stands a stately mansion known as The Captain Stannard House. This majestic white house has long been rooted in Westbrook’s history and is now proudly part of our WBI family.
Built in 1872 by Elbert Stannard, the house has been an Inn since the early 1900’s. Once known as Menunketesuck Inn, and the St. Charles Inn, it also has been used as Taverns and Dance Halls. The unique architectural style of the home, having a large barn moved and attached to the rear, and a striking e cupola used to watch for sea captains to return from their journeys, make it a standout in town. We are grateful to be the new caretakers of this historic property, which is ready to welcome guests with its new identity - The Stannard.
